Havening Techniques® - Healing through neuroscience
Did you know? Past traumatic experiences and stressful events can be still haunting you after thirty, forty and even fifty years after they happened. And they can be as emotionally and physically intense as when it occurred all those years ago? They can become "hard-wired" into the brain.
When incidents that were traumatic or exceedingly stressful get stuck (synaptically encoded), it can lead to disruption in our personal relationships, emotional outburst (like anger, uncontrollable crying, etc), feeling out of control, panic attacks, hypervigilance, depression, anxiety, sleep disruption and many more...
And they can't be "talked away" or "reasoned out of".
Sounds familiar?
It doesn't need to be like this! Keep reading and see what this new science-based, groundbreaking healing modality can do for you.
What is Havening Techniques®?
Havening is a psychosensory modality developed by Dr. Ronald Ruden M.D., an American physician from New York and co-developed by his brother Dr Steven Ruden. For over 15 years Dr. Ruden researched the effects of Trauma, its components and the part of the brain that encodes it.
How does Havening work?
In Havening we use therapeutic touch to produce Delta Waves (these are the frequency waves the brain generates in deep sleep or meditation), to quickly and permanently change the way the brain stores the memories of the difficult event. Basically, it de-links the painful emotions from the traumatic event.
The different protocols in the Havening Techniques® specifically target a part of the Lymbic System called the Amygdala and the neurobiological pathways that were produced during the event that led to traumatisation. When this happens, in a process called depotentiation, the emotional aspects of the trauma are released and you are freed from it.
What conditions Havening addresses?
Anxiety
Panic Attacks
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Phobias
Depression
Excessive shyness
Stuttering
Emotional numbing
Distressing emotions (anger, sadness, rage, guilt, regret, fear)
Negative beliefs
Self-Sabotage behaviours and thoughts
And many more...
Havening is also used effectively for:
Improving Wellbeing.
Stress Management.
Peak perfomance.
And as a Self-help tool.
What happens in a Havening Session?
During the session, I will lead you to safely activate the distressful memory/event . Once this is activated, I will use gentle psychological distraction, e.g. visualisation, counting, humming and eyes movements, while you self-apply Havening Touch and you are being guided in the process. This also means that you will be learning the technique, so that you can go home with a powerful and life enhancing tool that can assist you in between sessions and after, moving forward in life.
How will I feel after a Havening session?
Many people feel very calm and relaxed. This is because the Havening stimulate the production of Serotonin, Oxitocin and Gaba, the natural "feel good hormones" that form part of the healing process. Sometimes people feel a bit "spacey" for a little bit, until their nervous system has re-calibrated and processed the changes.
